Delicious Apple Crisp

Ingredients

  • 3 apples, washed, cored & diced

  • 1/4 C Raisins

  • 1/4 C Apple Juice (or water)

  • 1/2 C Maple Syrup

  • 1/4 C Whole Wheat Pastry Flour

  • 1/3 C Rolled Oats

  • 1/4 C Walnuts or Pecans, crushed

  • 1/4 t Ground Cardamom

  • 1/2 t Cinnamon

  • Pinch of Coriander

  • 1/8 t Sea Salt

  • 3 T Softened Butter

  • Walnut or Hazelnut Oil for oiling the pan 

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly oil a 13x9 inch baking pan. 

  • In a medium bowl, combine the apples, raisins, and apple juice and spread evenly in the baking pan.  In the same bowl, combine the maple syrup, pastry flour, rolled oats, nuts, spices and sea salt. 

  • With your hands, work the softened butter into the dry ingredients until evenly combined and it resembles small crumbs. 

  • Sprinkle the crumb mixture on the apples and bake uncovered for 25-35 minutes, depending on your oven.  You want the apples baked and browned, not burnt. 

  • Serve warm with some cream or milk poured over the crisp in a bowl or a dollop of real whipped cream!
