Barbecue Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 ½ onions finely diced
- 3 garlic cloves minced
- ¼ cup of olive oil
- 1 cup of tomato paste
- 1 cup of apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup of coconut sugar
- ½ cup of Worchester sauce
- 1 cup of Dijon mustard- country style or regular
- ½ cup of soy sauce
- 1 cup of Hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons of chili powder
- ½ teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes
Directions
- Pour the olive oil into a heavy sauce pan and heat it over medium heat.
- Place the diced onion into the pan and sauté until the onions are soft and translucent.
- Add the garlic and sauté for just another minute or two.
- Add the remaining ingredients, and stir to combine.
- Simmer the sauce about ½ hour until it is reduced to about ½ its original volume. The sauce should be thick. Allow it to cool, and then it is ready to use. It can be stored in the refrigerator for a week or more.
